Design Excellence honors
Awards spotlight 10 categories
-- Casual Living, 10/1/2009
Kettler’s Sereno Barrel Back Chair was recognized as the winner of the 2009 Lillian B. Winchester Best of Show Award during the 50th annual Apollo Awards at Chicago’s Union Station.

The chair won the Wrought Iron/Wrought Aluminum category, which drew the Design Excellence contest’s largest number of entries for a second consecutive year.

The category winners were named during an earlier award presentation in the Merchandise Mart’s 7th floor Market Suites.

Judges selected products from 10 categories in the design contest, which drew just over 100 entries. The Resin/Fiberglass category did not attract enough entries to be judged. Outdoor rugs, carpeting and flooring were judged in a separate category from the Complementary Casual niche.

Renovations continue as spring gets closer

The bar in the second half of the show room gets light, one step closer to a functional water station.
The trellis is taking on a new look over the foutain and the equipment room by the fountain gets a face lift. With nice weather on it's way we look forward to painting the building along with the equipment room door.
This week the trees are pink, things are budding, and we are reminded spring is on it's way.

SOMEWHERE UNDER THE RAINBOW

It rained hard all day yesterday but today we are experiencing some sun breaks.
A bright rainbow framed the water feature in our unfinished courtyard today. There we were right under the rainbow. The courtyard continues to progress the trellis is reaching new heights over the fountain and creating a lot of interest in the over all design.

TRELLIS OR ARBOR?

A friend and I had a conversation...Is it a trellis or an arbor? this is what dictionary.com says...

trel⋅lis  /ˈtrɛlɪs/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [trel-is]
–noun
1. a frame or structure of latticework; lattice.
2. a framework of this kind used as a support for growing vines or plants.
3. a summerhouse, gazebo, arch, etc., made chiefly or completely of latticework.

ar⋅bor  /ˈɑrbər/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [ahr-ber]
–noun 1. a leafy, shady recess formed by tree branches, shrubs, etc.
2. a latticework bower intertwined with climbing vines and flowers.

Anyway...the trellis/arbor is taking shape in the courtyard at Northwest Pool & Spa. What a difference it will make...a gardeners dream, the perfect frame for our outdoor courtyard. Separating us from our industrial surroundings...and then the plants, I CAN HARDLY WAIT.

Can you see them?

Today I saw them. The tulips I planted are breaking ground.
The rain stopped (for now) and the sun is shinning. Temperatures will soar around 55 today...feels like spring.

TRICKS OF THE TRADE

Selling to the trade is an interesting part of my business. Restaurants, bars, salons, and hotels are a great place to look for design inspiration and it is always nice to see companies I represent in highly visible locations. It goes to show you don't have to travel to New York or Singapore to find style and sophistication, you can find it right here in Eugene. EcoSmart Fire and MAMA GREEN outdoor furniture are two of the lines I represent in my showroom you might see when you are out and about.
Keep your eyes peeled!

With Spring Approaching

There is a lot to think about this time of year. We are working on our showroom and preparing for all our NEW SPRING ARRIVALS. I ordered GLOSTER in RED this year. Color in the garden is always welcome. What is more inspiring than RED?
